Ahoua Koné, MPH, JD

Ms. Koné’s practice focuses on Family law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Before coming to the Seattle Law Group, Ms. Koné was a Staff Attorney at Seattle University School of Law - Access to Justice Institute - where she managed Community Justice Centers that provided free legal assistance to underserved communities in partnership with law firms, pro bono attorneys, and community organizations. Prior to law, Ms. Koné worked as an epidemiologist and public health consultant locally and overseas.

Education:

Ms. Koné received her law degree from Seattle University School of Law. She has a Bachelor in Science and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Washington.

Membership:

Ms. Koné is a member of Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association, the Loren Miller Bar Association, the Seattle Human Rights Commission; Commissioner on the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs and Seattle Public Schools Planning and Oversight Committee (2000-02).

Community Involvement:

Ms. Koné is President of the African Communities Network of Washington. She volunteers with several other organizations including King County Dispute Resolution Center (2003-04), Dept of Public Health Seattle Partners for Healthy Communities (1997-2002), and YMCA Boys & Girls Club Youth Basketball (1997-99). In 2000, Ms. Koné was named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow for her work heading a medical relief drive for a rural public hospital in West Africa in partnership with the South Everett Mukilteo Rotary club

Publications & Presentations

Ms. Koné has authored several public health articles in peer review journals.

She is a frequent guest speaker at the University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle public schools, and the Juvenile detention center on social justice issues, access to health & legal services, gender issues, and female genital cutting.

Special Skills & Interests:

Fluent in French, Portuguese and three West African Languages.
